Word Mail Merge vs OpenLabelMaker

The Word Mail Merge Process

  1. Open Word, select "Labels" under Mailings
  2. Find your Avery template (or create custom)
  3. Connect to Excel data source
  4. Insert merge fields one by one
  5. Preview results, fix formatting issues
  6. Merge to new document
  7. Fix alignment issues
  8. Print (and probably reprint because alignment was off)

Requires: Microsoft Word + Excel + printer driver configuration

The OpenLabelMaker Process

  1. Open editor, pick your label size
  2. Type {{Name}} and {{Address}}
  3. Click Import Data, upload your Excel file
  4. Click Export, download PDF
  5. Print
