Batch Print from a Spreadsheet

Labelling a server rack or patch panel? List your cables in a spreadsheet (Port, Destination, VLAN, Cable ID) and print all labels in one batch.

Tips

Print the same info on both ends — use batch mode with "×2" repeat so each cable gets two identical labels.
Use a flag style — wrap the label around the cable and fold it onto itself so the text is readable from both sides.
Include source and destination — "Patch 12 → Switch A Port 24" tells you everything at a glance.
Use durable/laminated labels — server rooms and industrial environments need labels that resist heat and handling.
Colour-code by function — use background colours: blue for data, green for VoIP, red for management, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions

What label size for cable labels?

For standard Ethernet cables, use narrow labels like DYMO 99010 (89 × 28 mm) or Brother DK-11201 (90 × 29 mm). Wrap them around the cable near the connector. For flag-style labels, use DYMO 11354 (57 × 32 mm).

Can I print both ends at once?

Yes. Use the repeat count feature set to ×2. Each cable gets two identical labels — one for each end.

Do I need DYMO Rhino for cable labels?

No. OpenLabelMaker creates cable labels on standard DYMO LabelWriter rolls. DYMO Rhino is only needed for their proprietary heat-shrink and industrial label tapes. For self-adhesive wrap-around labels, a standard LabelWriter works perfectly.
